Mick Pointer is stiff and boring as hell. But I will always prefer these versions of the first Marillion over Ian Moseley's renditions. The mood of this album requires Mick's simplicity. Hard to explain.
I saw Marillion tons of times with Fish. Never heard them play Grendel better than this.
O cara canta bem pra cacete.
I’ve always liked this band and it was a great show,
Me gusta lo mejor ❤
Apparntly not a Genesis rip off?
I met Fish backstage at Hammersmith Odeon once, what guy, true talent as all the original lineup were. Very much a cult band for those who were there, we were the ones waging war in the discos.✌
This truly is a beautiful song and Judie's voice is still absolute class.
So good! Vocals are 💯
Derrick William Dick AKA Fish was a Civil servant in Aylesbury when he was joined Marillion
man I miss The Amorettes i remember the day they split it really caught me off guard, I never saw it coming they really were a force to be reckoned with, I only got to see them once before they split but at least I did get to see them
My absolute favorite! It’s free, but it’ll cost you… everything. Love.
Marillion is the band that thought they could plagiarize Genesis and people wouldn't notice.
Morcheeba ! love it !!!
I read "Million Rectal of the Script"
Hogarth would never be this great Derek D. is and will always be the real deal,
What a man, what a song. unbelievable
In 1983 I bought this album on cassette solely because I liked the cover. I had no idea who they were what kind of music they played and I thought fish was the weirdest name for the lead singer. I had low expectations. Then I listened to the title track and as I listened the weirdest thing happened. I found myself on the verge of tears and and I was like what in the hell is this? It was like nothing I have ever heard before. I needed more. Fugazi was outstanding and again I love the cover but nothing could prepare me for misplaced childhood and clutching at straws. Those two albums sit right beside Dark Side of the Moon and wish you were here as perfect albums. Fish era is a feast for the ears.
I'm with you!
Sadly it is quite visible that original drummer Mick Pointer is the relative weak point in this Marillion. His replacements (Ward, Marter, Mover!!! and eventually Ian Mosley) were better. It just stalls and does not yet swing. The album was brilliant though. There's plenty of early live material and this concert here is great. I hope to recover the Dutch Pinkpop show from the Fugazi tour. Had it on tape.
What a difference in drumming between Michael Pointer and Ian Mosley. This era of Marillion was truly amazing.
Marillion Fish era was the Best. Fish will be Fish ❤

Such a stunningly beautiful reading of the Bob Dylan classic Play the blues, Walter Magnificent
Great performance ❤
I saw Marillion a couple of times in this era. It was great when Mr Trewavas hit the bass pedals and the whole place shook.
Beautiful performance of this great song. Jude superb as always x
They got backup singer. WAY back there. lol 2:52
Here for the album's 41st birthday!
Die perfekte Genesis-Kopie. 👍
I saw Marllion at The Marquee Club in or around September/October 1982. Can't remember the date exactly but the set is broady similar and they played Three Boats Down From the Candy too. I was 17 and had been up to Hendon that day for an interview to join The Met as a cadet, but all day I was thinking about this gig. I wasn't disappointed!
What a great gig fish era the best , lovely for me so much better than genesis, marillion very great music
thanks a lot
C'era Mick Pointer alla batteria! Cimelio
Ukraine. Prog rock!
saw them at Toads Place in New Haven Connecticut on the Script tour in '83 and got to meet the band after the show..! Saw them again at Toads, for Fugazi in '84, and saw them open for Rush at the Springfield Coliseum in Mass in '85, where they did the entire Misplaced Childhood album, and then at Roseland in NY which was the last time I saw them with Fish. the shows at the small clubs were the best as I watched right from the front of the stage..!! my all time favorite band the last show I saw at Toads was for the Seasons End tour with Steve Hogarth in '89, a great show but not the same without Fish.
The best progressive rock album ever ❤
I was there!
ok but sorry not a patch on ash from just testing era, just my opp
No key change... :( And where's the chicky-babe?
Omg….it feels so Great . What a time…
That guitar solo at the end of Grendel gets me every time, so beautiful, wish it would never end. ❤
and solo in jigsaw is soberb
esos si eran buenos de verdad !
